Has Newport met its match?

It seems that "cant build it fast enough" Newport has begun to slow down a bit. Slow to the point where a developer can leave a 35 story skeleton topped off and dormant along a valuable waterfront. The Aqua has been standing without any progress for months now. And while other major project such as Chrystal Pointe and 77 Hudson have opted to rough it through the markets stormy weather, it looks like the Aqua didnt win this round...for now. The project will almost undoubtably move foward in time, but it is interesting to see that even Newport which has big plans for its remaining waterfront land has to stop and catch its breathe.

Its possible that the slowdown isnt related to the market issues though as new streets beside the Aqua have recently been repaved and other projects are still moving foward.
In fact, the River Market seems to be continuing along nicely and actually kind of looks like the renderings that they created for it. A Morton Williams is opening soon and new stores are called for or ready for rent which will create a large and very needed strip of retail in this area.
